Medford's Oldest Karate School

Established in 1975, Chip Wright's Champion Karate studio sits on the banks of Bear Creek in downtown Medford. The school’s 11,000 square feet of training area to students from 4- to 78-years-old.

Mr. Chip Wright currently serves as coach of Team Chun Kuk Do and works on team development for Mr. Chuck Norris's United Fighting Arts Federation, UFAf.

National fighting champion 5th degree black belt Ms. Shantell Dawson is the acknowledged Adult Forms Grand Champion, Female Fighting Grand Champion, for 2006 and 2007. She has also been named Female Competitor of the Year, every year since 2004.

The team of black belt instructors, five under 24-years-old, offers children, teens and adults an opportunity to develop self-confidence, discipline, and respect while increasing their physical prowess.

Children, as young as 4-years-old are introduced to martial arts in our popular Little Champs program. Children from 6- to 8-years-old join the Champs program. While older kids, teens and adults each have unique and challenging classes including: Sparring, Forms, Weapons, & Self-defense.

Step inside our 11,000 sq. foot studio, on the banks of Bear Creek in downtown Medford. Chip Wright's Champion Karate opens at 12 noon weekdays and we are always available by phone at 772-1576.

Students of Chuck Norris's Chun Kuk Do, or Universal Way style of karate learn from numerous Black Belt instructors including award-winning: Ms. Shantell Dawson, Mr. Mike Holstein, Mr. Nick Alden and Mr. Chip Wright.

Our Business

With decades at the downtown Medford location, Chip Wright's Champion Karate is a landmark. A local treasure, Chip Wright's Champion Karate School has changed the life of numerous area youth. Manager Shantell Dawson received her first Black Belt at the school when just 12 years old.

Mr. Chip Wright, Ms. Jakki Wright, Ms. Shantell Dawson and the entire staff at Chip Wright's Champion Karate combine to create comprehensive and demanding Black Belt curricula for all ages.

The Lil Champs program gives 4-7 year old boys and girls an opportunity to learn karate basics. Our oldest student, whose grandchildren participate in that program, is 78-years-old and just attainted the rank of Blue Belt.

We are dedicated to our community, our students and their families. We frequently participate in festivals, fairs and parades, high school half-time shows and elementary school demonstrations.

We offer fun, high-kicking birthday parties so that local kids can get a taste of karate... and cake. We host parents-nights-out evenings, fundraisers and numerous events throughout the year.

Our two annual karate tournaments draw competitors from all over the Pacific Northwest.
